Organizing Coupons

Organizing Coupons

The next question I get when I am shopping and someone stops me is "Where did you get that organizer?. I answer, "I ordered mine from the Case-it website". I have graduated to using a 4" D-Ring binder with a shoulder strap. It gets a lot of attention when I am shopping, believe me!

Starting out, I would suggest a small zipper bnder, like one that is for a student. I purchased Baseball card holders to use for my coupons. I sort mine from letter A-Z. I also put my coupons in back to back to save space. I always carry it in to every store and when I find an unexpected clearance deal, all I do is flip open my binder and look to see if I have a coupon for it. I recently bought 15 toothpastes at the grocery store that were in a clearance cart for $1.00. I had a $0.50 coupon that doubled making them all free!

I also keep a small accordian file which I found at the dollar store. It has just enough slots for me to keep my shopping lists organzed and certain store coupons seperated. I carry this file in my purse and goes with me everywhere. I also use this file to organize my CVS Extra Care Bucks and Walgreen's Register Rewards.

As I file my coupons every week, I throw away the expired coupons.
As far as expired coupons go, some stores will take them. So before throwing them out, be sure to ask your favorite stores if they will accept expired coupons and how long expired they can be. Most stores have a policy that they cannot accept expireds but will still take them. So it never hurts to ask.

So get organized!
