First of all, the statement where it says you cannot seperate orders IF you exceed the 20 coupon limit may be misinterpreted by cashiers. I had a cashier yesterday tell me I couldnt seperate my order under the new coupon policy. I was not going over 20 coupons, I just had some that were going to be donated through the Penny Experiment and I needed a seperate receipt. Either way, after showing them the printed copy of the policy that I carry with me, they let me do it.
Thank goodness they finally changed the wording on the 3 "like" items: "We double up to three identical items with manufacturer coupon." This changes a lot of things for me! That wording means that I can get as many different flavors as the same item and I can use 3 coupons for each flavor! That is huge! So you can actually use 20 identical coupons as long as you get 3 of each "identical" items! WooHoo!!!
"We do not accept internet coupons that do not appear to be originals or that won’t scan."- I understand this addition to the policy. Unfortunately, we may have to take some things off our orders at checkout but that is just how it goes. There have been too many fraudulent internet printed coupons and we are feeling the brunt of it.
So last night I go in to do some shopping and I was planning on using my Walgreens register rewards to pay for my Diet Pepsi. I go give it to the cashier and he hands me this:
We gladly accept local competitors’ circular or direct-mail coupons for MONEY OFF THE TOTAL ORDER; we do not take competitor’s coupons for money off specific items.
•We do not accept any internet coupons from other retailers.
It does not say anywhere specifying what is considered a "Competitor". In my opinion, CVS and Walgreens are definately a direct competitor and carry milk and eggs and lots of food. So, I am going to send an e-mail to corporate to get a definate explanation of this new store policy.
And just to clarify, Harris Teeter does not and did not accept internet printed coupons from a competitor. I heard of a lot of couponers using the Rite Aid printable coupons and a lot of them at our store. I honestly think that is what made them come up with the new store policy not to accept "Pharmacy" competor coupons. The cashiers should have been educated enough not to accept them but they did anyway.
So, what do you think about the changes?

I thought sales tax was suppose to be applied AFTER the coupon and not before? Maybe I've been wrong this whole time?
ReplyDeleteIt depends on the policy. At Harris Teeter, you pay tax before coupons.
ReplyDeleteI think they are changing their coupon policy as they go along. It has changed practically daily since last Thursday.
ReplyDeleteGranted, they aren't doing anything that their corporate policy doesn't state (except for maybe the dollar off from drug stores change), but it has really disappointed me that some of the female management in our store acts like we are trying to pull one over on them by abiding by the policy that had been in force until this week.
