When Hurricane Hugo hit I was in middle school and became fascinated with weather so I decided I wanted to be a Meteorologist. Right out of high school I got a job working for WBTW TV-13 as a Production Assistant. I spent every spare moment in the weather center learning everything that I could. Later I moved to the beach and got a job at the Fox station as a Production Assistant. Once again, I spent a lot of time in the weather center and even practiced on the weather key! I made several videos and when an opportunity came around when the weather man got sick, I was ready to jump in and fill in for him! They actually said YES! After that, I was the one filling in for his vacations and for his sick days. When he decided it was time for him to leave, I was offered the opportunity to take over his spot! I jumped on it! Although it was my dream and what I had always wanted to do, they pay stayed the same and I got to the point where I could not do it anymore financially. So I moved on. To this day I am happy with the decision I made because I feel like I achieved my goal and enjoyed every moment of it!
