With the increase in coupon binder thefts recently, I thought that it would be important to make a list of ways to protect yourself. You have to treat your binder like your purse or child. You would not leave your purse or child (I hope) in your shopping cart to grab something on the next isle or to run in the bathroom real quick, right? You have to treat your coupon binder with the same amount of protection as you would your purse or child. Your coupons are worth money to you and depending on how many coupons you have, you could have thousands of dollars in your binder (I DO!). Thieves are becoming more bold in the economic crisis and are taking binders in the light of day! Here are some tips to keep them away:
- Strap your binder in the seat of the shopping cart with the child seatbelt
- If your binder does not have a carrying strap, use a purse strap or belt and thread through the middle clips.
- Never leave your binder in your car in full view. Thieves are not afraid to break a window.
- Never leave your binder out of your sight for even a second!
- Get the Coupon Thingamajig or make your own to help strap your binder down! (watch the video, it is cute!)
- Use a Laptop Alarm Cable to attach it to the shopping cart
- Be sure to have a card with your name and phone number and reward offer if lost or stolen
- Put a GPS tracking device in your binder.....well, that would be a good idea though! LOL!
coupon binder theft? Can you direct me to the stories about this? I am so afraid some one will steal my coupon box from my cart
