Garage Sale Series Part 1

Thanks to Twin Mamma for writing this wonderful series! It is that time of the year, Garage Sale season! Here are some tips from Twin Mamma to make it worth getting up at the crack of dawn! If you have any other great tips to add, please comment below!
  1. Look at everything.  Don't drive by and look out the window.  Get out of the car, walk up the driveway and look at everything.  You never know what you may find for dirt cheap.  I'm not saying to look for things you don't need, but I often will go with items in mind but find other items that I really do need for mere pennies.
  2. Haggle...it's a garage sale-you don't have to pay what the item is marked.  The worse the person could do is say no, so why not try to get the item for a lower price then marked or quoted.
  3. When adding up totals round DOWN.  If your total comes to $5.75, ask if they will take $5.  Most people will say 'yes.'
  4. Don't ignore dirty toys.  I know, they don't look appealing, but take a good look.  Would it be a perfectly good toy after using a little soap and water?

Stay tuned for additional posts to this series including: How much should I pay for that?
